Dr. Sneha Tirpude – Consultant Pulmonologist

Video Bronchoscopy is a medical procedure that allows doctors to examine the inside of a patient’s airways, including the trachea, bronchi, and bronchioles. This diagnostic test is usually performed by a pulmonologist, a specialist in the diagnosis and treatment of lung conditions. Bronchoscopy is a valuable tool in the diagnosis of various respiratory diseases such as lung cancer, pulmonary fibrosis, tuberculosis and pneumonia.

What is a bronchoscopy test?

The bronchoscopy procedure involves inserting a bronchoscope, a flexible tube with a light and camera at the end, into the patient’s mouth or nose and guiding it down the throat and into the lungs. The bronchoscope may also have small tools attached to it, such as brushes or forceps, which can be used to collect samples of tissue or fluid for further testing. Further to this interventional therapeutic procedures can be done like stent insertion for abnormal narrowing of the airway, glue application when there is an abnormal opening, foreign body removal from the airway.

Before the procedure, the patient will also be monitored throughout the procedure, including their heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen levels.

During the procedure, the doctor will guide the bronchoscope through the patient’s airways, examining the walls of the airways for any abnormalities or signs of disease. The doctor may also collect tissue samples or fluid for testing, which will be sent to a laboratory for analysis.

There are several different types of bronchoscopy, each of which may be used for different purposes. Contact us today to schedule your bronchoscopy test in Pune and take the first step towards better lung health.
